国籍与身份｜Nationality and Identity
申请人须为非中国籍公民，持有效外国护照，且身体健康。对于原为中国公民后加入外国国籍者，部分高校会要求提供无中国户籍证明。
Applicants shall be non‑Chinese citizens holding valid foreign passports and in good physical health. For applicants who were formerly Chinese citizens and later obtained foreign nationality, some universities require a certificate of cancellation of Chinese household registration.
学历要求｜Academic Requirements
须已获得硕士学位或同等学力，且学习成绩优秀。应届硕士毕业生通常可在入学前补交学位证书，但申请时需提供预计毕业证明。
Applicants shall hold a Master’s degree or equivalent academic qualification with outstanding academic performance. Fresh master‑degree graduates may generally submit their degree certificate before enrolment, and a proof of expected graduation shall be provided upon application.
年龄限制｜Age Restrictions
中国政府奖学金博士申请者的年龄一般不超过40周岁。自费申请者的年龄限制则相对宽松，部分院校可放宽至45周岁甚至更高（如北京语言大学要求不超过55周岁）。
Doctoral applicants for the Chinese Government Scholarship shall generally be no older than 40 years of age. Self‑funded applicants face relatively relaxed age restrictions. Some universities extend the limit to 45 or even higher (for example, Beijing Language and Culture University sets the age cap at 55).
语言能力｜Language Proficiency
中文授课项目：通常要求HSK四级（中国政府奖学金基本要求）或HSK五级。若前一阶段使用中文教学获得学位，可申请免交HSK成绩。
Chinese‑taught Programs: HSK Level‑4 (basic requirement for Chinese Government Scholarship) or HSK Level‑5 is generally required. Applicants who obtained their previous degree through Chinese‑medium instruction may apply for HSK score exemption.
英文授课项目：需提供雅思、托福等有效英语水平证明，具体分数要求由申请院校确定。母语为英语的申请者通常可免于提供。
English‑taught Programs: Valid English‑proficiency certificates such as IELTS or TOEFL are required. Specific score requirements are determined by the host university. Native‑English‑speaking applicants are normally exempted from submitting such documents.
品行与健康｜Conduct and Health
申请人须品行端正、对华友好、无违法犯罪记录，并愿意遵守中国法律法规及学校规章制度。健康方面，须无传染病及影响正常学习的身体或精神疾患。来华学习超过6个月者，通常需提交《外国人体格检查表》。
Applicants shall be of good moral conduct, friendly towards China and have no criminal record, and shall abide by Chinese laws, regulations and university rules. In terms of health, applicants shall be free from infectious diseases as well as physical or mental disorders that may hinder normal studies. Those who will study in China for more than six months are generally required to submit the Foreigner’s Physical Examination Record.

申请中国政府奖学金，除满足上述基本条件外，还需注意：
In addition to the above‑mentioned basic qualifications, applicants applying for Chinese Government Scholarship shall comply with the following requirements:
推荐信：须提交两名教授或副教授的推荐信。
Reference Letters: Reference letters from two professors or associate professors shall be submitted.
学习/研究计划：研究生须提交不少于800字的研究计划。
Study / Research Proposal: Postgraduate applicants shall submit a research proposal of no less than 800 words.
自费申请者注意事项｜Notes for Self‑funded Applicants
自费申请者无需经过奖学金评审，但需自行承担全部学费、生活费、住宿费及医疗保险等费用。部分院校对自费生的年龄限制更为宽松。
Self‑funded applicants do not need to go through scholarship evaluation, but shall bear all expenses including tuition fees, living costs, accommodation fees and medical insurance. Some universities adopt more flexible age restrictions for self‑funded students.
